Beverly Hills Lawyer Agrees to Plead Guilty to Five Federal Charges of Bribing Federal Agents

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office press release, a Beverly Hills based lawyer has agreed to plead guilty to five crimes stemming from a string bribes to federal law enforcement officials. Edgar Sargayan, of Calabasas, has agreed to plead guilty to conspiracy to commit bank fraud, two counts of bribing a public official, and two counts of making false statements to federal investigators. He faces a statutory maximum of 50 years in federal prison.

In a plea agreement filed in federal court, Sargayan admitted paying thousands of dollars to a special agent with the Homeland Security Investigations and a special agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

He has agreed to make his initial appearance in federal court on June 9. His case has been assigned to U.S. District Judge R. Gary Klausner.
