Federal Prosecutors Ask to Show Clip of “The Godfather” in Roger Stone’s Trial

July 27, 2019

Federal prosecutors are requesting to show a four-minute clip from the 1974 film “The Godfather: Part II” during Roger Stone’s upcoming jury trial on obstruction and perjury charges.

In the film, Frank Pentangeli, played by Michael Gazzo, lies to Congress claiming he does not know anything about the Corleone crime family when Michael Corleone enters the courtroom.

Prosecutors argue, “The relevant scene is important context for understanding Stone’s references – including what Stone intended to communicate to the witness and how Stone would have understood the witness’s likely understanding of those messages.”

Stone has pleaded not guilty to the charges. The trial date is current set in November in federal court in Washington, D.C.
