Man Sentenced to More than 8 Years for Importing Male Enhancement Pills Branded as Herbal Medicine
A man from Walnut was sentenced to 100 months in federal prison for illegally importing and selling $11 million worth of pharmaceutical-grade erectile dysfunction drugs that were falsely marked as herbal remedies for men whom suffered permanent injuries after consuming them.
John Lee, 41, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Percy Anderson, who also remanded Lee into federal custody. Anderson imposed a restitution amount of more than $552,000.
“It is obvious to me that this defendant has little or no respect for the law or the harm he caused numerous victims.” Anderson said at Lee’s sentencing hearing.
In February of this year, Lee pleaded guilty to three felony counts of conspiracy, importing contraband into the United States, and filing a false tax return.
The investigation into this case was conducted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations, the Food and Drug Administration, and IRS Criminal Investigation.
