Michael Cohen Surrenders to Federal Prison Authorities

May 7, 2019

Former president trump personal attorney, Michael Cohen, surrendered himself to the U.S. Bureau of Prisons to begin serving his three year prison term. Last year, Cohen pled guilty to several counts including financing illegal campaign contributions. The president has not been charged, though, was mentioned as an unnamed co-conspirator in the indictment.

Cohen will serve his time at a minimum-security camp that is known for housing white-collar offenders – known as FCI Otisville. The camp contains several amenities including a tennis court, and bocce ball. With good behavior, Cohen is expected to serve approximately 85-90% of his sentence.

Cohen fought to delay his surrender date by informing the public and investigators that he was in possession of e-mails and personal recordings with President Trump, crucial to the on-going federal investigation. Cohen’s attorney spoke that Cohen will be continuing to cooperate with federal investigators in the event Cohen is needed.
