Cuba Gooding Jr. Pleads Guilty to Forcible Touching

April 18, 2022

According to the associated press, actor Cuba Gooding Jr. pleaded guilty to forcibly kidding a woman at a New York nightclub back 4 years ago. Legal experts say that this plea agreement will likely keep Gooding out of jail.

Gooding has since announced an apology to other women who also accused him of similar misconduct on separate occasions.

Gooding admitted guilt as part of a plea agreement with prosecutors that came nearly 3 years since the celebrity was initially arrested. Specifically, Gooding told the judge that he “kissed the waitress on her lips” without consent at the LAVO New York club.

“I apologize for making anybody ever feel inappropriately touched,” Gooding stated. “I am a celebrity figure. I come into contact with people. I never want them to feel slighted or uncomfortable in any way.”

It appears the conduct involved alcohol, which Gooding told the court he will change by attending counseling for six months. The diversion plea agreement will allow Gooding to withdraw his misdemeanor plea and instead plead guilty to a lesser charge – harassment.

Prosecutors stated that the resolution represents “…a fair and equitable disposition.” However, Gloria Allred, counsel representing the three victims, said that her clients will be pursuing civil litigation to hold Gooding accountable.
